The population density of urbanization has shifted the growth of economic from rural areas to cities. This affects many things, including an increase in logistics activities that aim to fulfil needs and demands. In addition, several factors make city logistics activities difficult to predict, namely due to fluctuations in demand, uncertain delivery times, and parking locations. These factors have real implications for operational budged, the environment, and the success/failure of urban logistics activities. Optimization modeling has considerably contributed in streamlining transportation systems and companies with complex transportation and logistics problems efficiently. This paper proposes an optimization model to tackle the transportation problem mathematically. An integer programming model would be suitable for the case. Then we use a direct search approach for solving the model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
