The article discusses the threat posed to American higher education by the influx of foreign funding that promotes antisemitism and undermines democratic values. The Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) has been investigating the covert influence of foreign funds on U.S. universities and has identified $3 billion in undisclosed foreign funding linked to entities associated with the Muslim Brotherhood and terror financing. The lack of transparency and enforcement in reporting substantial foreign donations endangers the core values of higher education. The article highlights Qatar's significant influence on U.S. higher education through its foundations, which disguise state funding as private donations, allowing its ideological influences to permeate academic institutions. The impact of these foreign funds extends beyond university campuses, with antisemitism surging in academic settings and K-12 education being shaped by programs funded by Qatar Foundation International. Urgent action is needed, including obtaining and reviewing financial reports, investigating non-reporting of foreign donations, establishing ethics review boards, and requiring full financial disclosure for organizations supporting antisemitic or extremist causes. The integrity of academic institutions is crucial for preserving democratic values and combating antisemitism. [Extracted from the article] |
