Abstrakt: The technology for the development of a sustainable electric motorcycle chassis platform is a challenge for the automotive industry. The platform design is an important consideration to reduce manufacturing costs. This study aims to design a motorcycle with several types of materials. The materials are evaluated by using Finite Element Method (FEM) and Digital Logic Method (DLM). The value of the chassis strength is compared based on the stress, deformation, and natural frequency parameters. The solutions for numerical problem solving are solved computationally by using licensed Ansys Mechanical software. The measurements figure of merit based on index performance and cost of unit strength are applied to determine the material rank and which material is used for the electric motorcycle platform. From the results of FEM, less deformation and Von-Mises stress are experienced by STKM11A. Furthermore, based on DLM for materials selection, STKM11A is the best materials for Electric Vehicle (EV) motorcycle platform. From those results, it can be concluded that STKM11A is the most reliable material to apply for low-cost manufacturing of electric motorcycle platform. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
