Abstrakt: | A new report from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine discusses the association between certain risk factors and heart failure hospitalizations in patients with severe hypercholesterolemia. The study found that coronary artery calcium (CAC) and thoracic aorta calcification (TAC) were independently associated with increased hospitalizations for heart failure, while non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) were not. The research involved a retrospective cohort analysis of 762 patients with LDL-C levels greater than or equal to 190 mg/dL. These findings provide valuable insights into the relationship between cardiometabolic and atherosclerotic risk factors and heart failure in this patient population. [Extracted from the article] |
