A recent study conducted by researchers at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands examined the effect of antihypertensive treatment (AHT) on orthostatic hypotension (OH) in older adults with hypertension. The study found that OH prevalence decreased after AHT initiation or augmentation, as well as after AHT discontinuation. However, the overall level of evidence was low, and the study highlighted the need for future trials to measure OH in a standardized protocol. The findings suggest that the risk of inducing OH may be overestimated in current AHT decision-making for older adults. [Extracted from the article] |
