A recent report discusses research on neuromuscular diseases and conditions in patients who have undergone heart transplantation. The study found that while heart transplantation improves survival and functional status, there is a possibility of undiagnosed genetic causes for both cardiac and skeletal pathologies. The researchers assessed 39 patients and found that 17.9% reported new-onset muscle weakness and motor limitations. Genetic testing revealed pathogenic variants in some patients. The study suggests that integrating genetic testing and neurological assessment during the peri-heart transplantation period should be considered. [Extracted from the article] |
