Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins University has developed a novel tool for assessing the risk of arrhythmia in individuals with pathogenic desmoplakin (DSP) gene variants. DSP cardiomyopathy, a distinct form of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, is associated with these gene variants. The tool utilizes readily available clinical parameters to predict the development of ventricular arrhythmia (VA) in DSP patients. The model demonstrated good risk discrimination and may aid in decision-making for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placement in this high-risk population. [Extracted from the article] |
