A recent study conducted at Soochow University in Suzhou, China, has explored a new approach to enhance bone regeneration in individuals with osteoporosis. The researchers integrated hydrogels with spinning membrane technology to replicate the composition and structure of periosteum tissues. By grafting cerium ions onto the membrane, they were able to facilitate osteogenic differentiation and angiogenesis in stem cells while impeding bone resorption. This innovative tissue-engineered bionic periosteum shows promise in addressing osteoporotic bone defects. [Extracted from the article] |
