A study conducted by Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine investigated the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and hemorrhoids. Using the Mendelian randomization method, the researchers analyzed genome-wide association studies data to determine the causal effects of IBD on hemorrhoids. The study found a positive association between IBD, specifically Crohn's disease (CD), and hemorrhoids. However, the association between ulcerative colitis (UC) and hemorrhoids was not significant. The findings suggest that clinicians should focus on preventing hemorrhoids in CD patients. [Extracted from the article] |
