A recent study conducted by Kaiser Permanente Southern California has found that recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common among women. The study analyzed data from electronic health records and identified risk factors for recurrent UTIs, such as age (18-27 or >= 78 years), comorbidities, frequent healthcare utilization, antibiotic prescriptions, and antibiotic-resistant urine pathogens. The findings highlight the need for preventive interventions against UTIs, especially considering the increasing incidence of UTIs. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into the epidemiology of recurrent UTIs among women. [Extracted from the article] |
