A recent report from Shaoxing People's Hospital in Zhejiang, China, discusses the findings of a study on dental implants. The study aimed to determine if the thickness of the sinus membrane is a risk factor for perforation during lateral sinus lift surgery. The researchers reviewed multiple studies and conducted a meta-analysis, which showed that the sinus membrane is significantly thinner in cases with perforations compared to those without. However, the analysis did not find a significant relationship between thinner sinus membranes and a higher risk of perforation based on different membrane thickness cut-offs. The researchers concluded that further studies are needed to examine the role of sinus membrane thickness on perforation rates. [Extracted from the article] |
