Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted in mainland Portugal aimed to investigate the association between long-term exposure to ambient air pollution and mental well-being, depression, and anxiety. The study found that there were no statistically significant associations between long-term exposure to particulate matter smaller than 10 mm (PM10) and mental well-being or the frequency of probable diagnosis of common mental disorders. The researchers suggested that the lack of significant findings may be due to the limited variability in exposure values and emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust and nationwide air quality monitoring network. This study provides evidence for low levels of air pollutants and is one of the first nationally representative studies conducted on the Portuguese population using real-life data.
