Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by the University of Iowa explored the relationship between defeatist performance beliefs (DPB) and cognitive functioning, negative symptoms, and daily functioning in individuals with recent-onset schizophrenia (ROSz). The study found that individuals with ROSz had significantly elevated levels of DPB, which were associated with impaired cognitive performance, negative symptoms, and functional outcomes. The findings suggest that DPB may be a potential target for treatment in the early stages of schizophrenia. This research provides valuable insights into the cognitive model of negative symptoms and its applicability to individuals with ROSz. [Extracted from the article]
