A study conducted by the University of Pristina examined the association between glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and newly diagnosed hypertension in a non-diabetic population in Kosovo. The study found that diabetes mellitus is a common disease that can lead to cardiovascular complications, and hypertension is a serious health condition associated with various diseases. The research also highlighted the impact of smoking and vitamin D deficiency on patients with diabetes. The study concluded that vitamin D deficiency may increase in patients with diabetes who have higher levels of glycosylated hemoglobin, and a significant percentage of tobacco users had hypertension.
