A recent study conducted at the University Hospital of Southern Denmark aimed to determine the true incidence of dislocations after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) in Denmark. The researchers also sought to validate an algorithm designed to identify THA dislocations in the Danish National Patient Register (DNPR). The study included 5,415 primary THAs performed between July 1 and December 31, 2019. The results showed a true 1-year incidence of dislocation of 2.8%, with 37% of patients experiencing recurrent dislocations. The algorithm demonstrated a high sensitivity and positive predictive value, making it a potential quality indicator for future reports. [Extracted from the article] |
