This article is a reply to a letter from Dr. Arnold regarding the recurrence of anisometropic amblyopia in children. The authors acknowledge the importance of identifying which children may require treatment for future amblyopia recurrence, as it is currently difficult to predict. They describe a case of a child who had no apparent underlying causes for the refractive asymmetry and had initially responded well to glasses. The authors suggest that prolonged follow-up, potentially through periodic school or primary care screenings, may be beneficial. They question the necessity of certain screening and therapy methods, as the case they presented was unusual and responded well to standard treatment with spectacles. [Extracted from the article] |
