Abstrakt: This article experimentally and numerically investigates the bending response and failure mechanisms of FMLs under three-point bending tests. The in-situ microscope observation from step-by-step interrupted flexural tests is implemented to capture the failure mechanisms and damage evolution. Then, a numerical simulation is employed to characterize the damage initiation and progressive damage evolution process. Finally, the bending response and stiffness degradation of FMLs under incremental cyclic flexural loading tests are experimentally researched. The in-situ monitoring for FMLs-A shows that the appearance of fiber kink-band, fiber fracture, and metal cracking are identical with the moments of sudden loading decrease, respectively.
