This article, published in ChemSusChem, discusses the process of decarboxylative ketonization of aliphatic carboxylic acids in a continuous flow reactor catalyzed by manganese oxide on silica. The cover feature of the journal depicts the artificial photosynthesis process from CO2 and water to 6-undecanone, highlighting the various steps involved in the pilot plant stage. The decarboxylative ketonization step, when conducted in flow on a manganese sipernat catalyst, achieves a high yield of 99.99% at a productivity of 1.1 kg L-1 h-1.
