Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt explored the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in reducing opioid craving in patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). The study found that 18 sessions of high-frequency rTMS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex resulted in a statistically significant reduction in craving scores compared to a sham treatment group. The researchers concluded that 10 Hz rTMS of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex may be a promising treatment for OUD during early abstinence. Further research is needed to validate these preliminary findings. [Extracted from the article]
