Abstrakt: Researchers from the Department of Medicine conducted a study to investigate the relationship between immature platelet fraction (IPF) and poor short-term prognosis in dengue fever patients. The study involved 300 patients with confirmed dengue fever who were admitted to a hospital in Pakistan. The results showed that an IPF of less than 10% was significantly associated with a poor prognosis in patients with dengue fever. The researchers concluded that a decreased IPF in the first week of illness was linked to thrombocytopenia and other clinical complications in dengue fever patients. [Extracted from the article]
