Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Eastern Finland investigated the effects of genetic risk on incident type 2 diabetes (T2D) and glycemia in a group-based lifestyle intervention trial. The trial involved 973 men aged 50-75 years with a high or low genetic risk for T2D. The participants were provided with a 3-year group-based intervention focused on healthy diet and physical activity. The study found that the intervention significantly lowered the risk of T2D among participants with a high genetic risk, while the effect was not significant in the low genetic risk group. The researchers concluded that individuals at risk of T2D should be encouraged to make lifestyle changes regardless of genetic risk. [Extracted from the article]
