A recent study conducted by researchers at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, explored the effects of synbiotic supplementation on high-fat diet (HFD) fed rats. The study found that synbiotic supplementation improved dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and oxidative state in the rats. It also reduced serum GLP-1, serotonin, and cecal SCFAs, which helped ameliorate the metabolic derangements and intestinal barrier disruption caused by the HFD. These findings suggest that synbiotic supplementation may have potential benefits for metabolic health. [Extracted from the article] |
