A recent study conducted in Timisoara, Romania, explores the use of the triglyceride-to-high-density lipoprotein (TG/HDL) ratio as a surrogate biomarker for insulin resistance. The study analyzed 32 studies over 20 years, involving nearly 50,000 participants from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The findings suggest that the TG/HDL ratio can serve as a simple and accessible marker for insulin resistance, with specific thresholds providing greater accuracy for certain ethnicities and genders. However, further research is needed to establish tailored cutoffs reflecting these differences. [Extracted from the article] |
