Abstrakt: | Researchers from the National Research Center in Cairo, Egypt have conducted a study on the effects of wollastonite/fluorapatite glass (G) and glass-ceramic (GC) on the bioactivity and physico-mechanical properties of tricalcium silicate (TCS) bone cement. The study involved substituting 10 and 20 wt percent of TCS with G or GC and evaluating the resulting materials. The findings showed that increasing the percentage of GC in the samples improved the cement's physical and mechanical properties, as well as its bioactivity. The materials also exhibited minimal cytotoxic effects and demonstrated good inhibitory behavior against certain pathogens. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights for potential dental applications. [Extracted from the article] |
