Abstrakt: A recent report from Ohio State University discusses the use of the unlicensed drug GS-441524 in the treatment of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). The study followed 141 participants who completed 12 weeks of treatment with the medication. The results showed that cat owners experienced a shift from injectable to pill formulation of the drug, and the average cost of medication decreased. However, participants reported negative effects on the cat-human bond, and there was an increased trend in veterinarian awareness and monitoring of clients undergoing treatment. The study raises important questions about citizen veterinary medicine. [Extracted from the article]
