A recent study conducted at Cantonal Hospital in Liestal, Switzerland, aimed to characterize adult survivors of childhood cancer (ACCS) and assess their health issues, health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and satisfaction with clinic visits. The study found that ACCS attending long-term follow-up (LTFU) clinics faced various health issues affecting multiple organ systems and had lower HRQOL compared to the general population. Older ACCS (>28 years) reported lower physical and mental HRQOL compared to younger ACCS. However, the majority of respondents reported high levels of satisfaction with their clinic visits. The study concludes that internist-led LTFU clinics are crucial for optimizing follow-up care for ACCS. [Extracted from the article] |
