Abstrakt: | A study conducted at Goethe-University Frankfurt in Germany explored the use of fluorescence confocal microscopy (FCM) for evaluating fresh surgical specimens and isolating tumor cells in rare pediatric tumors. FCM is an optical technique that generates real-time images of unfixed tissue specimens using laser light sources. The researchers found that FCM can accurately assess tumor viability and suitability for tissue sampling, with good correlation to traditional histological methods. Additionally, the study showed that FCM does not compromise the isolation and growth of tumor cells in culture. This research provides valuable insights into improving tumor sampling and diagnosis in pediatric patients. [Extracted from the article] |
