A recent study conducted in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has investigated the diagnostic and prognostic role of miR-146b-5p in differentiated thyroid carcinomas. The study found that miR-146b-5p expression levels can distinguish between benign and malignant thyroid samples, particularly in indeterminate nodules. The overexpression of miR-146b-5p was associated with a higher risk of recurrence and mortality. These findings suggest that miR-146b-5p could serve as a useful diagnostic and prognostic marker in the personalized management of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer.
