Abstrakt: A recent report from the All-Russia Research Institute for Agricultural Microbiology discusses the accumulation of cadmium and aluminum in pea plants and their potential removal from the environment. The researchers found that pre-sowing treatment of seeds with selenium and silicon had different effects on the selected genotypes of pea plants. While silicon stimulated growth, it reduced the removal of toxicants in some cases. On the other hand, selenium inhibited yield but promoted greater accumulation of aluminum. The study concluded that bimetallic pollution resulted in a decrease in the accumulation of toxicants in biomass. [Extracted from the article]
