Abstrakt: This article, published in the British Journal of Haematology, discusses the successful treatment of scleromyxoedema, a rare mucinous disease associated with monoclonal gammopathy. The case study focuses on a 51-year-old female patient who had been diagnosed with scleromyxoedema in 1992 and had accompanying monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). The patient underwent various treatments, including topical steroids, retinoids, laser therapy, and systemic treatments commonly used in myeloma therapy. However, these treatments only provided short-lived responses. Eventually, the patient was started on daratumumab monotherapy, which led to an undetectable M protein level, significant improvement in skin manifestations, and the absence of seizures. This is the first report of antiCD38-antibody treatment for scleromyxoedema. [Extracted from the article]
