A report from the University of Oklahoma discusses the findings of a study on opioids and their impact on public health in Oklahoma. The study aimed to identify county-level characteristics associated with acute hepatitis C infection and newly diagnosed injection drug use (IDU)-associated HIV in the state. The research found that different factors predicted new cases of HIV-IDU and acute hepatitis C infection, suggesting that tailored public health interventions are needed for each case population. The study highlights the importance of addressing the opioid epidemic and its associated health risks in Oklahoma. [Extracted from the article] |
