A study conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health examined the prevalence and correlates of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection among people who inject drugs (PWID) and men who have sex with men (MSM) living with HIV in India. The study found that the prevalence of HBV infection was higher among PWID compared to MSM, and correlates of HBV infection differed between the two populations. The study also highlighted the low rates of vaccination against HBV in both populations and emphasized the need for routine screening and catch-up vaccination. The researchers concluded that further research is needed to understand the risk of reactivation in individuals with isolated anti-HBc reactivity. [Extracted from the article] |
