A study conducted at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangdong, China, examined the efficacy of plasma exchange and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in managing pregnant women with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related gestational acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). The study analyzed 51 eligible patients and divided them into a conventional treatment group and a new treatment group. The new treatment group, which received more aggressive plasma exchange and CRRT strategies, showed lower levels of total bilirubin and higher survival rates compared to the conventional treatment group. The study concluded that early plasma exchange and CRRT within three days post-childbirth can improve the prognosis for HBV-related gestational ACLF. [Extracted from the article] |
