A recent report from Ohio State University discusses the challenges of accurately diagnosing fibromyalgia (FM) and long COVID (LC) due to their similar symptoms. The researchers explored the use of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) combined with multivariate analysis to develop classification models that differentiate between FM and LC. Blood samples were collected and analyzed using SERS with gold nanoparticles, and the results showed promising accuracy in distinguishing between the two conditions.
