Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the Federal University Santa Catarina in Florianopolis, Brazil, explored the effect of ultrasonic activation of adhesive systems on the bond strength of resin cement to irradiated root dentin. The study found that irradiated specimens had lower bond strength compared to non-irradiated specimens. However, when the adhesive systems were ultrasonically activated, the bond strength of the resin cement to irradiated dentin increased significantly. The research also observed that radiotherapy affected the failure mode in certain areas. Overall, the study suggests that ultrasonic activation of adhesive systems can improve the bond strength and intratubular penetration of resin cement in root dentin subjected to radiation therapy.
