The article offers information on the use of Respiratory Viral Panel (RVP) testing as an early diagnostic tool for neonatal enterovirus infections, based on a cluster observed in San Diego, California in 2023. Topics include the identification of Coxsackie B4 and B5 viruses causing severe neonatal enterovirus infections, the diagnostic role of RVP testing in identifying these viruses from nasopharyngeal specimens, and the clinical outcomes and complications observed in affected infants. |
