This article examines the presence of hepatitis E virus (HEV) in hematological patients in Poland. The study found that there were no ongoing infections of HEV in the patients tested, although a high number of past infections were detected. The authors stress the importance of testing for HEV in immunocompromised patients and recommend implementing HEV RNA testing as a mandatory screening measure for blood donors. The study suggests that the incidence of HEV in hematological patients in Poland is lower compared to other European and Chinese centers. [Extracted from the article] |
