Abstrakt: This review paper discusses a multi-faceted methodological approach to investigate the presence and vectors of invasive marine species in ports in the context of climate change. Native species are organisms that occur naturally in a particular geographic region and have evolved in that ecosystem over time. They have adapted to the physical and biological conditions of that ecosystem and play important roles in maintaining its ecological balance. Invasive species, on the other hand, are non-native species that have been introduced into a new ecosystem and have the potential to cause harm to the environment, economy, or human health. They often have few natural predators or competitors in their new environment and can outcompete native species for resources and spread rapidly once introduced into a new ecosystem, leading to a decline in biodiversity and ecosystem function. This paper highlights the importance of understanding the vectors and the potential for species to adapt to changing environmental conditions. This paper also discusses the role of surveillance and monitoring programs, as well as predictive modelling and risk assessment approaches, in identifying and managing invasive species in ports. We will discuss the different vectors such as ballast water, hull fouling, recreational boating, commercial fishing, and the various measures put in place to combat incursions. It further explores the potential impacts of climate change on the distribution and abundance of invasive species and the implications for port management and biosecurity. The paper concludes by emphasizing the need for integrated, multidisciplinary approaches to investigate invasive marine species in ports and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
