Abstrakt: This article provides an overview of the life and work of Jan Urban Jarník, a linguist from the Czech Republic who made significant contributions to the field of Albanian studies. Jarník's interest in languages led him to become an expert in Romanian and Albanian, despite never visiting Albania. He used innovative methods to study languages, which laid the foundation for the study of Albanian at Charles University in Prague. The article also discusses the contributions of Jan Gebauer, another linguist who played a role in generating interest in Albanian within the Czech academic community. Despite political tensions, new opportunities for research and collaboration in Albanian studies are now emerging. [Extracted from the article]
