This article explores the use of endogenous U6 promoters in Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco) to enhance the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing system. The study identifies three U6 promoters in tobacco that are similar to those found in Arabidopsis. The functionality of these promoters is confirmed through experiments using GFP and a dual-luciferase assay. The research demonstrates that the CRISPR-Cas9 system driven by the pNtU6.1 promoter effectively induces mutations in tobacco genes. This study expands the range of tools available for gene editing in tobacco and offers potential benefits for tobacco breeding. [Extracted from the article] |
