Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have conducted a study on predictors of persistent opioid use in bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy. The study analyzed data from the SEER-Medicare database and found that non-opioid naive patients were more likely to have persistent opioid use after surgery. Factors such as age, race, and education level also influenced the likelihood of persistent opioid use. The study suggests that standardizing physician practices could help address the issue of persistent opioid use in this patient population. [Extracted from the article] |
