A recent study conducted at Emory University explored the association between posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in twins. The study found that there is a significant association between PTSD symptoms and sleep-disordered breathing, as well as an increased risk of OSA in individuals with a current PTSD diagnosis. These findings have important implications for public health and may contribute to a better understanding of the factors that influence OSA pathophysiology. Further research is needed to better individualize treatments for OSA in older adult populations. [Extracted from the article] |
