A study conducted in Mumbai, India, examined the role of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) in diagnosing malignant lymphadenopathy. The study found that FNAC is a simple and effective tool for distinguishing between infective and malignant lymphadenopathy, particularly in low-resource settings. The researchers analyzed 112 patients diagnosed with malignancy on FNAC and found that 87.50% had metastasis and 12.50% had lymphoma. The study concluded that FNAC is a safe, accurate, and cost-effective method for evaluating malignant lymphadenopathy, providing valuable information for surgical management and directing further investigations.
