A new study conducted at Maggiore della Carita Hospital in Novara, Italy, explores the relationship between the hepatitis C virus (HCV) and the hepatitis delta virus (HDV) in HIV/AIDS patients. The study found that one HCV/HIV co-infected patient tested positive for anti-HD antibodies, suggesting a possible role of HCV in HDV dissemination. The researchers believe that further studies are needed to validate these findings and understand the complex mechanisms of HDV transmission. This research provides preliminary evidence of HCV's involvement in HDV infection in humans. [Extracted from the article] |
