Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at Austin Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, focused on intracranial extraventricular neurocytomas (EVNs), a rare type of brain tumor. The study aimed to analyze the characteristics of EVNs, surgical outcomes, and the effectiveness of postoperative adjuvant therapy. The researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 101 cases of intracranial EVNs. The study found that patients under 50 years of age had better overall survival and progression-free survival rates. Complete surgical removal of the tumor was found to be the most effective treatment, while postoperative adjuvant therapy did not significantly improve survival. The researchers concluded that the role of adjuvant therapy should be determined on a case-by-case basis. [Extracted from the article]
