Abstrakt: A report from Anhui Normal University in Wuhu, China, discusses the psychological interventions for children and adolescents suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression after natural and man-made disasters. The study used a network meta-analysis to compare and rank different interventions. The findings suggest that eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), exposure therapy (ET), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) were the most effective interventions for reducing PTSD symptoms. EMDR and ET were also associated with a higher reduction in PTSD symptoms at follow-up. Additionally, EMDR and play therapy (PT) were found to be effective for reducing depression symptoms. The study concludes that EMDR is the most effective intervention for reducing both PTSD and depression in children and adolescents affected by disasters. [Extracted from the article]
