A study conducted at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Northeast Nigeria aimed to evaluate the pattern of medical admissions and outcomes in a tertiary health center. The study found that noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) were responsible for the majority of admissions and mortality during the study period. Infectious/parasitic diseases constituted 28.2% of admissions, followed by diseases of the circulatory and digestive systems. The research highlights the importance of understanding prevalent medical conditions in a community for effective healthcare planning. [Extracted from the article] |
