Researchers from Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences have published new data on bone resection methods in medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). The study aimed to examine the relationship between the extent of bone resection and postoperative outcomes in patients with mandibular MRONJ. The findings showed that surgery for MRONJ requires resection of the infected bone, including the osteolysis area, gap-/irregular-type periosteal reaction, and mixed-type osteosclerosis. The study also highlighted the need for future research on determining the extent of bone resection in MRONJ cases without osteolysis. [Extracted from the article] |
