Abstrakt: A recent report from the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences discusses research on the extraction of biologically potent compounds from Vaccinium myrtillus leaf waste. The study aimed to optimize the extraction process, characterize the extracted compounds, and investigate their biological potential. The researchers found that the optimal extraction conditions involved a plant material:medium ratio of 1:30 g/mL, 50% ethyl alcohol, and 2 minutes of microwave irradiation. The extracts showed high inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus growth, antioxidant capacity, stimulative influence on keratinocyte viability, and anti-inflammatory activity. The findings suggest that these bilberry extracts have potential applications in pharmacy and cosmetics. [Extracted from the article]
