Abstrakt: Researchers at Taiyuan University of Technology in China have published a report on the development of copper-bearing titanium alloys with strong antibacterial properties for biomedical applications. The alloys were fabricated using a powder metallurgy technique called spark plasma sintering (SPS). The addition of copper to the titanium matrix increased the yield and tensile strengths of the alloys, but decreased their elongation. The optimized properties of the alloys were found to be comparable or even superior to those of traditional titanium alloys. The study provides insights for the design and processing of these alloys using the SPS method. [Extracted from the article]
